Vivid ruby-violet color. Ripe, blackcherry, leather and cassis aromas mingled with hints of toast of new oak show a lot of intensity along with the distinctive ripeness of the vintage. Ripe, medium-full bodied flavors have deeper black-fruit flavors than usual, testimony to the exceptional maturity of Carneros Pinot Noir fruit in 1999. The finish is rich and long, buttressed by firm but soft tannins and a long finish. One of the fullest Pinot Noirs from BV in years.
